N-A-C (N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine) Reference Guide
Precursor to Glutathione and Supports Liver Function*
What is N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC)?
A cysteine that has been modified with an acetyl group, which stabilizes and increases the bioavailability of many compounds (e.g., curcumin, EGCG and sulforaphane). This stable and soluble form of cysteine, a thiol containing amino acid, acts as an antioxidant and contributes to the biosynthesis of glutathione, a principal detoxification agent and metal chelator.* Glutathione is a critical detoxification agent, meaning it attaches to lipid-soluble toxins to make them more easily excreted from the body.*
