We’ve just experienced a winter of atmospheric rivers – rain isn’t a normal

occurrence here – so cheers to a spring that brings back the sun!

With longer days and more sunlight, remember that both sleep and exercise are

important fundamentals to a happy and healthy existence. Also important- the

food that we eat.

This spring, I hope you try our $5 smoothie of the month and also build a fruit

salad or a veggie plate with some of the local and organic fruits and veggies we

bring in from farms all around Southern California. With this same produce, we

also create homemade build-your-own prepared meals in the Homemade Grab &

Go section – you can mix and match your protein with a favorite side or two!

After you grab a smoothie and a meal – stay a while in one of our cafes for a

community event (we host bingo every month!) and meet like-minded people

who appreciate wellness as much as you.

This past December, Mother’s opened its 12th location in Southern California and third in Los Angeles County. The new store, under the banner Mother’s California Market, is in the heart of the Hollywood Media District in Los Angeles at 6677 Santa Monica Blvd.

SPRING SPRITZ MOCKTAIL – BERRY MOJITO

This spring, why not try a perfectly refreshing mocktail to celebrate the turn in the weather?

It may just become your new favorite! Here’s how to make it:

INGREDIENTS:

• Soda Water

• Organic Berries (your choice but Organic Blackberries recommended)

• Organic Lime juice

• Organic Mint

• Organic Granulated Sugar

• Water

• Ice

DIRECTIONS:

1. In a medium sauce pan, add equal parts sugar and water (start with ½

cup of each)

2. Stir mixture regularly until all the sugar has dissolved in the water. Set

aside

3. Juice 1 lime. Pour a small amount of the juice into a glass

4. Take mint leaves and pull them off the stem and place in your palm.

With your other hand, slap the mint leaves (this allows the aroma of the

mint to emerge)

5. Add mint leaves and berries to your glass with a touch of simple syrup

6. Fill the glass with ice

7. Fill glass with soda water and enjoy

WAYS TO REUSE MOTHER’S BROWN PAPER BAGS

SALMON GRILLING TIPS

In case you have not heard, Mother’s is your go-to place to find the best salmon. We recently launched four different varieties of Mother’s brand salmon for you to choose from, which include Norwegian Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Cedar Plank Salmon, and Maple Bourbon Glazed Salmon. And since it’s always grilling season in Southern California, why not try out one of our new salmon varieties on the grill tonight? Each of our salmon options are grill-ready, but here are some tips that will help you while cooking.

Make Sure the Grill is Hot

When you are cooking any of our salmon, make sure that you have a clean, hot grill. Making sure the grill is clean makes the salmon easier to remove and flip while cooking. A hot grill will allow the nice hard sear which will lock in all the great juices from the salmon.

Keep the Salmon in One Place

Don’t move your salmon around too much. Allow the salmon to stay in one place with constant heat on it. This will eliminate the salmon from breaking and falling into your grill. When the salmon is ready to flip, it should be easy to remove from the grill. Don’t force it– you should be able to tell when the fish is done.

For the Cedar Plank

If you are using the cedar plank from our Cedar Plank Salmon, be sure to soak the plank. Soaking the plank makes sure that it will not burn as quickly.

Prevent the Salmon from Sticking to the Grill

Lastly, put some oil, butter, or cooking spray on the salmon; this will help for an easier removal process and clean up.
